Customs clearance is the process of getting your goods approved by customs when they enter or leave a country. It includes preparing the required documents, declaring the shipment correctly, paying applicable duties and taxes, and meeting customs requirements.

The documents depend on the type of shipment and goods. Commonly required documents include a Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading or Airway Bill, Goods Declaration (GD), and Certificate of Origin. Some products may also require specific licenses, permits, or certificates.

There is no fixed time for every shipment. Clearance depends on the type of goods, documentation, customs procedures, inspections, and any required approvals. When the paperwork is complete and there are no unexpected issues, the process is usually much smoother and faster.

A Goods Declaration, commonly called a GD, is an electronic declaration submitted to customs with details about the goods being imported or exported. It is an important part of the customs clearance process in Pakistan.

Customs duties and taxes are charges imposed by the government on imported goods. The amount can depend on the product’s HS Code, customs value, applicable duty rates, and current import policies.
